PURE, naturally delicious and handcrafted sorbets

At PURE New Zealand Ice Cream it’s our mission to produce PURE and naturally delicious, handcrafted ice cream and we are delighted to announce that our ice creams continue to win medals at the annual Outstanding New Zealand Food Producers Awards. In fact, our flavours have won an incredible 60 awardssince 2011.

This year we chose to enter three dairy-free sorbets in the Outstanding NZ Food Producers Awards. These awards celebrate Kiwis who harvest, grow and make food and drinks right here in New Zealand. Each year the judges have seen not only growth in the number of products entered, but also improved quality, making judging more and more challenging each year!

Our 2022 awards

Our Damson Plum sorbet, made with succulent Hawke’s Bay Damson Plums, was the judges’ favourite of the three sorbets and came away with a Silver Medal. The judges commented that this flavour will be the perfect sorbet for some (we tend to agree!). The deep pink colour, silky smooth texture and slightly tart flavour of this sorbet will fool you into thinking this is a premium ice cream... making it the perfect dairy-free indulgence!

Our runners-up were our Lime Sorbet and Chocolate Sorbet, both earning Bronze Medals. We have recently introduced both of these popular dairy-free sorbets into our 500ml range. Our deeply refreshing Lime Sorbet, made with organic lime juice from Hawke’s Bay, can be eaten as a palate cleanser, treat or dessert. And our Chocolate Sorbet will definitely not disappoint. Made with 72% Dark Belgian Callebaut Chocolate and Cocoa, this sorbet is hugely satisfying and is a perfect dairy-free alternative to premium dark chocolate ice cream.

Like all our ice creams, our sorbets are handcrafted with all natural ingredients. Our consumers and the judges at the Outstanding Food Awards recognise quality and naturally intense flavours and we are delighted to have come away with awards for all three of our entries. Our team would also like to congratulate the medal winners across all the categories.

Our certified dairy-free sorbets

Our certified dairy-free gelatos and sorbets are becoming increasingly popular, both in New Zealand and in Japan, with consumers looking for a lactose-free dessert and those looking for a satisfying treat without consuming more dairy.

If you are seeking a healthy, allergen-free, PURE and naturally delicious frozen treat - you can find a list of our stockists here.

We have 9 dairy-free gelato and sorbet options on offer, but for those who still love traditional ice creams – don’t worry, we’ll be continuing to develop this range too.
